Special Exhibits and Shows

May 22, 2026 until November 01, 2026Marking a half-century of stewardship in the arts, Adobe Gallery is proud to celebrate its 50th Anniversary with a landmark exhibition opening this Memorial Day weekend. This premier event explores the profound spiritual and historical narratives of the Hopi people through a masterfully curated selection of paintings by the revolutionary collective, 'Artist Hopid.' Established in 1973 by visionaries Michael Kabotie, Delbridge Honanie, and Neil David, Sr.—and soon expanded to include the significant contributions of Terrance Talaswaima and Milland Lomakema—this movement fundamentally redefined the trajectory of modern Hopi art, bridging the gap between ancient iconography and contemporary expression.

August 04, 2026 until January 01, 2027In this growing exhibition of over 150 storyteller figurines, one private collector's lifelong dedication to acquiring these works will captivate you and spark your curiosity about the art form. The storyteller concept was created by artist Helen Cordero in 1964 as a tribute to her grandfather. Featuring pieces crafted by numerous artists, this collection holds deep cultural significance for the community. The figurines serve as symbols of oral tradition, family ties, and the intergenerational transmission of tribal history and the Keres language-spoken by the people of Cochiti Pueblo, Ko-tyit. These iconic clay sculptures often depict an elder with an open mouth surrounded by children, symbolizing the sacred passing of stories and native language from one generation to the next.
