The image on each bronze bookend is a Native American with a full-feather headdress and loin cloth sitting bareback on a horse.  He is an important member of the tribe as evidenced by the full headdress.  He has his arms spread outward, is leaning back slightly, and has his head looking up to the sky.  He is apparently making a plea to the Great Spirit.  There are a couple of plants at the base.  The outer rim of the bookend is raised to provide a frame for the image.

The back of each is stamped with a canoe-like figure within which is the letter C, enclosed in a triangle, which, in turn, is enclosed in a circle.  We have not been able to determine the maker whose symbol this is.  The bookends are heavy and suitable to support books.

Condition: very good condition

Provenance: this Pair of Bronze Bookends with Indian on Horseback is from the collection of a gentleman from Santa Fe
