As a resident of Isleta Pueblo, Shirpoyo has often seen, first-hand, the beautiful, brilliantly orange and red New Mexico sunsets, which he expresses so well in this painting. Superimposed on a deep blue sky, it seems even more brilliant. The soft lines of the adobe buildings, the lights in the adobe homes, and one horno (oven) in the foreground compliment the activity in the sky. The color of the two woman wrapped in their blankets is a final touch he so expertly added. Signed and dated 5/10. Framed by the artist.
