Acoma four-color polychrome pottery did not continue in production much after 1900, possibly because of the loss of the clay source for the deep red color or possibly because it was easier and faster to make pottery for sale if less colors were used.  This jar is estimated to date to the 1890s.

Condition: has been severely broken and reassembled professionally

Provenance: from a gentleman in Santa Fe who inherited it from his grandmother
