The designs on the exterior of this Acoma Pueblo Polychrome Historic Pottery Food Bowl would tempt one to display the bowl upside down so as to enjoy the dynamic display of swirls.  The undercoat is white slip and the design is orange and brown. There are large orange swirls outlined in black that extends to the rim and connected by a common line to its neighbor.  Curving inside the orange curve is a dark brown one that continues upward to the rim. The inside of the utilitarian bowl is white (see below).

Condition: very good condition with minor spalling

Provenance: from the estate of Dr. Tom Dickerson, former physicist and lifetime resident of Santa Fe, and avid collector of Native arts.
