Lupita Martinez (1918-2006) was the niece of Maria and Julian Martinez through her marriage to Anselmo Martinez (1909-1965), the son of Julian’s brother, Louis Martinez. I do not know if she was a full-time potter or an occasional potter. She was, however, an excellent potter. She is represented in the Heard Museum collection, Phoenix.
This San Ildefonso Pueblo Black-on-black Feather Design Small Jar was expertly crafted and painted beautifully with eagle feather designs.
Condition: very good condition
Provenance: from a resident of Texas who inherited it from her mother.
