The different hues of blue and green and the complex matrix in this mid-century Navajo ring are captivating. An unknown Diné silversmith set the square cut cabochon in traditional Diné fashion. Using a minimum of silver the artist set the extraordinary piece of turquoise in a straight edged bezel. On either side of the stone are bands of twisted wire and silver dots.
The face rests on a three-part split shank. It is unsigned.
Condition: The ring is in good condition. There are indications of wear patterns to the ring, but the stone is intact.
Provenance: The Diné Square Cut Turquoise Stone Ring comes from a Southwest Indian Jewelry collector in Colorado

Note: when we say Diné, as opposed to Navaho or Navajo, we are referring to the people and not the government. Since 1969, their government refers to itself as the Navajo Nation.
