Hopi Gourd Dance Rattle with Aya Katsina Design [SOLD]

This rattle is the favored one given to the children on the occasion of the Powamu or Niman ceremonies.  It is painted to resemble the mask of the Aya Katsina.  The sun motif appears on the flat side of the rattle and rainbow colors appear on the protrusion on the opposite side. 

Condition:  The gourd is in excellent condition.  There are no cracks or chips.  Some of the paint has worn off but that is to be expected on an item that was used in dances and given to a child.
