Artist signature of Camille Quotskuyva Hisi Nampeyo, Hopi Pueblo PotterThe Hopi jar crafted by Camille "Hisi" Nampeyo, daughter of the renowned Hopi potter Dextra Quotskuyva Nampeyo, is a testament to her family's storied legacy in pottery. Measuring 4 inches in height and 9 inches in diameter, this exquisite seed jar features a minimalist yet striking design. Four moths gracefully adorn the jar, hanging from the rim above the shoulder, adding an element of natural elegance. This understated piece not only showcases Camille Nampeyo's skill and artistry but also reflects the rich cultural heritage and traditional craftsmanship of the Hopi people.

Hopi Pueblo artist Camille Quotskuyva Hisi Nampeyo is highly collectible due to her exceptional pottery skills and distinguished family lineage. Born in 1964, she was immersed in the world of pottery from a young age, learning the craft from her mother, the celebrated Dextra Quotskuyva Nampeyo. Her brother, Dan Namingha, is a renowned painter, further showcasing the artistic talent that runs in the family.

Hisi's lineage includes some of the most esteemed figures in Hopi pottery. She is a direct descendant of Nampeyo of Hano, a legendary potter known for reviving Sikyátki-style pottery in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Her great-grandmother, Annie Healing Nampeyo, and her grandmother, Rachel Namingha Nampeyo, both contributed significantly to the family's artistic legacy.

Hisi is her Hopi name, given to her during the traditional naming ceremony when she was born. Most collectors know her by this name rather than Camille. The Nampeyo family's artistic contributions have been pivotal in preserving and enhancing Hopi pottery traditions, making each piece by Camille "Hisi" Nampeyo a treasured collectible.
