Carver Unknown

This unfinished katsina doll was going to represent Crow Mother Katsina but, during carving, a section of the cape on the back side broke off so the carver abandoned the work.  The cylindrical shaft in her hands was going to be a bunch of yucca leaves.

This is an excellent example illustrating the process of kachina doll carving from a single piece of cottonwood root.
