This small round globular jar was made by Lisa Holt of Cochiti Pueblo and painted by Harlan Reano of Kewa Pueblo. The jar is signed with the names of both artists, but there is no date. The jar is filled with black designs over a cream slip. It is bold in appearance.
Lisa Holt is the granddaughter of Seferina Ortiz, who was her mentor, as was her mother, Juanita Ortiz, and her uncle, Virgil Ortiz. Harlan Reano also learned pottery making from Lisa's family members. Their work has been described as traditional Cochiti and Kewa pottery with a contemporary twist. This jar well illustrates that concept and showcases the young couple's innovative talents.
