Mary Martin Seated Storyteller Figurine with One Child [SOLD]

Cochiti Pueblo artist Mary Martin (1927-2011) Tsiranitsia made this female pottery storyteller figurine early in her career of pottery making. It is a female with a single child secured on her back with a shawl which she is securing with her right hand. In traditional storyteller fashion, the adult has her mouth open in song or story and eyes closed in thought.  The child seems to be restfully sleeping.  The adult is wearing a black traditional Pueblo dress that is decorated with designs around the hem, and she has a squash blossom necklace hanging around her neck. Her shawl has a black wavy pattern with orange V symbols throughout.

Condition: very good condition
