This buckle is like a small painting of Navajo life. It features a Navajo weaver sitting at a loom with a rug in the process of being made. The weaver is dressed in traditional Navajo clothing with a concha belt made of tiny pieces of coral. The loom is made of two pieces of jet and the rug has been made of turquoise and white shell. The weaver sits within a frame of circular stamped designs, and one of the four sacred mountains of the Navajo is in the background. The sheepskin rug the weaver is sitting on is made of mother of pearl. The piece is signed BB which we have found is the hallmark of Benson Boyd.
Condition: original condition
Provenance: this Navajo Belt Buckle with Inlaid Weaver and Loom is from a private collector
