This Diné-made silver concho belt consists of 10 silver and turquoise conchos and a similar, but larger, buckle.  Each concho measures 2” diameter, and the buckle measures 2-⅜” diameter.  Incredibly, each small turquoise was carved with a slight curved arrangement and rounded at the top, and inserted in a raised silver channel designed to elevate the circle of turquoise above the level of the silver concho discs.  A single turquoise gemstone was placed at the center of each concho and the buckle.  Each concho has a copper strip attached to the back through which the leather belt is threaded.

The Navajo Nation origin belt was originally purchased in the mid-twentieth century by the mother of the current owner.  The belt is provided with a black fabric sleeve into which the concho belt can be inserted for storage.

Condition: excellent condition with possibly one repair on the concho adjacent to the buckle.  It may be that the bezel holding the center stone has been repaired.

Provenance: this Diné Magnificent Stamped Silver Concho Belt with Turquoise Inserts is from the collection of a resident of Texas who inherited it from her mother.
