Popular items in the early- and mid-twentieth century were silver objects made by the Diné of the Navajo Nation for sale to non-Natives for use in their homes.  Among those items were ashtrays such as this one. Ashtrays are not as popular now as usable items as they were earlier but they have become popular as collectibles from the last century.

The stampwork on this ashtray features a four-petal floral element in the center surrounded by an amazing detailed array of peacock-like feathers on an inner circle and fine detailed stamping of feather-like bands on the middle circle and sunrise semicircles on the outer layers.  The holders for cigarettes are filled with detailed stamped designs.

Condition: this Diné Oblong Sterling Silver Vintage Ashtray is in very good condition

Provenance: from the collection of a gentleman from Washington, DC
