Like almost every artist who has visited New Mexico, Edward Borein (1873-1945) provides us with his rendition of Taos Pueblo.  A Taos woman tends to her bread that is baking in the horno, a Taos Indian is climbing a ladder to get to the second level of the terrace house, a couple of people are walking, one is standing in a doorway on the right, and a horse is standing near a building.

This original etching and drypoint "Taos" is shown as Figure 234 in the Pueblos section of The Etchings of Edward Borein published in 1971.  It was not signed by the artist.  In consultation with a serious collector of Borein, we learned that Borein signed his work at the time of a sale.  When he passed away, there were some of his etchings in his studio that remained unsigned.  His estate has continued selling these original etchings since his death.

Condition: the etching is in original condition and has just been framed with archival materials and a wood frame.

Provenance: from the collection of a resident from Santa Fe who is downsizing her large collection of paintings and prints.
