This two-piece ceramic vessel by Rick Dillingham (1952-1994) was most likely an early work of art. It is small but makes a powerful statement as does everything that he made. Dillingham was an educator, artist, Indian art dealer, and historian and he excelled at all these.
This vessel may be considered an architectural shape—perhaps the shape of a rock formation in the great Southwest like those seen on the Navajo reservation. The few holes on the top appear to have had sticks or grasses in them previously, but no longer do. There are remnants of what might have been willow rods.
Condition: this Rick Dillingham Ceramic Two Piece Vessel with Stripes appears to be in original condition
Provenance: from the collection of a gentleman from Alexandria, Virginia
