Gloria Arquero is a daughter of famous matriarch Damacia Cordero of Cochiti Pueblo. Her collectible figurines are very similar in style to those of her famous family of pueblo potters.
This seated female is dressed in a traditional pueblo dress that rides over one shoulder and under the other. She has a woven belt around her waist and wears a necklace and traditional moccasins. The four children are all facing forward, two on her upper body and two on her lap.
This female storyteller figurine was made as a pair with a seated drummer figurine, our item #C4004C. Each is priced separately and available for purchase separately, but they do make a nice couple. Each of the figurines is signed Gloria Arquero, an indication that they were made a number of years ago, before her marriage.
Gloria Arquero Herera (ca.1940-) is a sister of Marie Laweka, Martha Arquero and Josephine Arquero. Their mother was Damacia Cordero of Cochiti Pueblo. Her figurines are very similar in style to those of her siblings and mother.
