Navajo Nation Artist Marvin Slim and His Exquisite Craftsmanship
Crafted by Diné jeweler Marvin Slim, this pair of earrings features a simple yet elegant charm. Each earring features an oval spiny oyster mounting. The mounting is a beautiful orange with marbled striations, enhancing the appeal of the earrings.
The spiny oysters are set against an oval backdrop of sterling silver, lending the earrings a traditional and classy appeal. Both earrings bear the signature ‘Sterling, M S' at the post, marking the authenticity of the craftsmanship. The earrings are made for pierced ears.
Marvin Slim, a Navajo silversmith from Torreon, NM, was brought up in Albuquerque where he learned the art of silversmithing at a young age from his mother and relatives. Today, Marvin, along with his wife Luana, originally from San Felipe Pueblo, resides in Albuquerque with their children. Together, Marvin and Luana create a wide variety of jewelry, including bolo ties, necklaces, bracelets, earrings, and adjustable rings, each piece reflecting their exquisite craftsmanship.
