We are pleased to invite you to Adobe Gallery's current exhibition, Tradition and Transformation: San Ildefonso Pueblo Pottery and Painting, 1850s to 1970s. The show is open now through August 17th.
This exhibition explores the development of San Ildefonso pottery and painting from its roots in utilitarian and ceremonial use to its emergence as a celebrated art form. Set against the backdrop of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, the story begins in the mid 1800s and follows the path of artists such as Maria and Julian Martinez, Rose Gonzales, Blue Corn, Tony Da, Oqwa Pi, Popovi Da, Romando Vigil, and many others whose innovations helped shape a new era of Native American art.
