Dianna Tahbo (1941-2011)

Hopi-Tewa artist Dianna Tahbo was an accomplished potter whose active career spanned three decades. Descended from a lineage of legendary Hopi matriarchs, she was the granddaughter of Alma Tahbo and the great-granddaughter of the revered potter Grace Chapella.
Dianna's work was profoundly shaped by her close relationship with her brother, the master potter Mark Tahbo (1958-2017). Under his influence, she developed a meticulous eye for the traditional Hopi-Tewa hand-coiling, slips, and outdoor-firing techniques that defined their family's legacy.
While highly skilled, Dianna was not a prolific creator. Because she prioritized precise craftsmanship over high-volume production, her beautiful, finely detailed pottery remains quite rare. Today, her few available pieces are highly sought after by collectors who appreciate the subtlety, heritage, and scarcity of her work.
