Artist Signature - Lori Tanner ( - 1966) Pop Wea

Pop Wea was a niece of Pop Chalee of Taos Pueblo.  It has been very difficult to find any published information on her other than she passed away in 1966. Her first name is recorded as Lori and as LoRee.  It is not known if she lived at Taos Pueblo or not.

Clara Lee Tanner stated that she “painted some rather dramatic pictures, frequently in nontraditional style. . . Occasionally she combined the traditional and symbolic motif.  She took a First Award at the 1965 Scottsdale National Indian Art Expedition.”
