Katsina Doll Collection

September 30, 2007 until November 15, 2007

We just acquired a collection of 19 Katsina Dolls that was amassed by a gentleman who worked for the Department of the Interior in Denver before the 1960s. After he passed away, his wife gave the entire collection of 18 dolls to a friend in Florida in 1964. They have been in that collection since then. We are pleased to offer them at this time. They all appear to have been carved by the same carver and all apparently carved from balsa wood. It is my speculation that a Hopi carver living in Denver at the time made them.
