Navajo Silver and Turquoise Ring by Chavis Elliott [SOLD]

This silver and turquoise ring made by a Diné of the Navajo Nation was purchased in the early 1980s.  It was made by Chavis Elliott, who is listed in books on silversmiths but there is no information regarding the artist in those publications.  Both publications provide his name and that he signs his work with his initials CE.  This ring does have those initials stamped into the silver.  Although purchased in 1980, the ring appears to be circa 1950s.

We may not have access to published information about the jeweler, but we can say with confidence that he is an accomplished jeweler who selects outstanding turquoise and provides us with beautiful silverwork.

The turquoise is anchored in a silver bezel that is mounted on a silver platform, which is anchored to the ring foundation.  The sides of the silver are beautifully designed in a floral style.  The ring impressed me when I first saw it over 40 years ago, and I am still impressed.  - Alexander E. Condition: this Navajo Silver and Turquoise Ring by Chavis Elliott is in very good condition with normal wear patterns.

Provenance: Purchased shortly after opening Adobe Gallery with the intent of wearing it at the gallery, but soon discovered that wearing a ring and handling pottery were not compatible.  I put it away at the time and recently discovered it in my possessions, so it is now available. - Alexander E.
