This beautifully executed bracelet is stamped with the initials L L, however we have not yet associated these initials with a Zuni artisan. This beautifully executed bracelet is stamped with the initials L L, however we have not yet associated these initials with a Zuni artisan. The workmanship is excellent in both silversmithing and lapidary. The turquoise are beautifully matched in color and were inserted between silver channels in a tight fit. The silver is not decorated except for the edges which have "sunrise" designs stamped from end to end. The bracelet probably dates to the late twentieth century.

To create what is called channel inlay jewelry, jewelers of Zuni Pueblo place specifically cut gemstones into preformed silver channels. This technique requires a high degree of intricacy and precision, but ultimately it allows the artist to be more creative with the patterns and color combinations he or she is incorporating into the piece.
