Patrick Swazo Hinds' Pueblo Dancers:

The Creation of the Buffalo Dancer Lithograph at Tamarind Institute, 1972

Experience the powerful artistry of Patrick Swazo Hinds with this exquisite Buffalo Dancer Lithograph, a profound representation of a sacred ceremonial performance practiced by many North American Indigenous peoples. This timeless ritual, imitating the buffalo, serves various purposes, including healing, ensuring successful hunts, and paying homage to the revered spirit of the buffalo.

This particular lithograph is a cherished piece from the esteemed "Pueblo Dancers" suite, a collection of five striking lithographs. Each piece in this limited edition was meticulously drawn and hand-printed at the renowned Tamarind Institute in Albuquerque, New Mexico, during September and October of 1972.

The edition comprises 70 numbered impressions on beautiful buff Arches paper, complemented by two Tamarind Impressions and seven artist's proofs. A few rare trial proofs also exist, meticulously recorded at Tamarind. Each lithograph in this offering is numbered 20 of 70, signifying its place within this exclusive series.

The creation of these lithographs was overseen by the masterful Tamarind Master Printer Harry Westlund. To preserve the integrity and exclusivity of the edition, all stones and plates used in the printing process have since been effaced. The letterpress work was expertly handled by the Plantin Press in Los Angeles.

Originally, the complete "Pueblo Dancers" suite was presented within a handsome hard folder, elegantly embossed with the artist's name on the cover. These individual lithographs have now been carefully removed from their original casing and are offered separately, providing a unique opportunity to acquire a piece of this significant artistic collaboration.

Condition: Each of the pages has one small hole in the same location on each sheet that appears to have been penetrated at the same time. The hole in each page is about the diameter of a toothpick and is not located in the image, but near the top of the page in a position that could be covered with proper matting. Otherwise, each of the lithographs is in excellent original condition.
