This weaving from Churro sheep wool is typical of the high-quality rugs from Crystal Trading Post. Churro wool is the finest and most desirable for textiles. There is no commercial dye in this rug. All the colors resulted from carding natural white, black, and brown sheep wool to achieve the shades the weaver desired.

The early Crystal Trading Post textiles of J B Moore's designs primarily consisted of crosses, diamonds, terraces, and a simple border, very much like this textile. The main design concept is multi-color diamonds and half diamonds. The varying shades of light brown wool are the various lots of carding of white and brown wools together. Typically, a weaver will card enough wool to last for a period of time, then card more when she needs it. Each carding varies in shades depending on how much white and how much brown were carded at the time.
