This midcentury ring features eight cabochons placed in hand-fashioned bezels and set on a rectangular face. The turquoise is set vertically in lines of four on a platform with tiny silver drops surrounding the stones. The stones have a pleasing array of different shades of blue, giving the ring a unique look. The ring is stamped "W" and "Sterling Silver" on the back. The hallmark "W" could stand for several artists, so we are unable to identify the individual Diné jewelry maker.

Condition: The Navajo Ring with Eight Small Turquoise Stones on Solid Shank is in good condition. There is evidence of wear, but the stones are all intact.

Provenance: From a Colorado Southwest Indian Jewelry collector

Note: when we say Diné, as opposed to Navaho or Navajo, we are referring to the people and not the government.  Since 1969, their government refers to itself as the Navajo Nation.
