Tony Abeyta (1965 ) signature

This original mixed media painting was completed by Tony Abeyta in 1989 as part of a series of images entitled Indian Detours with a number following the title. The Indian Detours was an early 20th century Fred Harvey Company enterprise where they would drive tourists from Santa Fe to the pueblos for dance ceremonies and other functions.

Tony Abeyta described the process he used in making this painting. He took an image of a pueblo dance from a printed source (book, calendar, etc.) and laid it on a sheet of handmade paper and then added paint over and around the print. The resulting painting is an original collage and acrylic work on paper.

Condition: this Original Collage and Acrylic Painting "Indian Detours #1" is in original condition

Provenance: from the personal collection of a Chicago resident who knew Tony Abeyta when he lived in Chicago.
