This charming nine-piece polychrome set by Pauline Gutierrez is a polychrome nativity scene, animated with joy and embodying the distinctive style of the celebrated Gutierrez family from Santa Clara Pueblo. Each figure, crafted with personality and warmth, smiles as they greet the infant Jesus, who himself is depicted with a happy expression grinning with his first baby tooth (see image below), adding to the set's lively, welcoming atmosphere. The scene includes wise men bearing thoughtful gifts—a pottery vessel, a drum, and moccasins—along with a joyful cow and its calf, adding a tender touch to the gathering. This set beautifully reflects the Gutierrez family's unique blend of cultural heritage and artistry, infusing the nativity story with warmth and joy. The cradle and Baby Jesus are separate and not attached.
