Traditional Navajo jewelry centers on highlighting the beauty of a single piece of turquoise. Revered by cultures worldwide, turquoise is thought to protect and bring prosperity to the wearer. Within the Navajo culture there is great respect for things of beauty and this stone is indeed quite beautiful. The unknown artist used minimal silverwork to frame the stone. Set only in an elegant straight sided bezel, it was then placed in a frame of twisted wire. It is set on a shank that has been stamped with only a line and a small circle. The stampwork has over time been worn, giving the ring a smooth texture. It has an extremely comfortable fit while on the hand, making it a very good choice to add to any collection.
Condition: very good condition, the stone is intact.
Provenance: The Diné Sterling Silver and Oval Turquoise Gemstone Ring from the collection of a Colorado family
