This traditional Navajo silver concho belt is smaller and lighter weight than other belts made during the mid-20th Century when, characteristically, conchas were constructed to be heavy and large. It is a perfect belt for someone who would like to wear a more comfortable one, yet it still has all the look and feel of a larger, more traditional belt.
A very skilled Diné silversmith used repoussé and amazing stampwork to decorate this lovely concho belt. This belt has seven oval conchas interspersed with butterflies. Each piece was meticulously stamped with crescents and geometric designs. The square buckle has a series of repoussé designs which have also been stamped. The belt has been put on new leather which has not been punched with holes, so the sizing is variable to the owner.
Condition: The belt is in very good condition. The conchas and buckle have signs of loving wear and a beautiful patina. The leather is new and does not have punched holes.
Provenance: this Stamped and Repousé Navajo Silver Concho Belt with Smaller Conchas and Butterflies is from a Colorado Southwest Indian Jewelry collection
