Andrew Sahmie, Sr. (Andrew Louie Sahmie, Andy S.) Hopi-Tewa, Corn Clan, active 1980-present: Katsnia carvings, miniatures, and pottery. Andrew is the great-great-great-great-grandson of Mamana; great-great-great grandson of Simo and White Corn and Quootsva; great-great grandson of Nampeyo of Hano and Lesso; great-grandson of Annie Healing Nampeyo; grandson of Rachel Nampeyo and Emerson Namingha; son of Priscilla Namingha Nampeyo; brother of Rachel Sahmie, Jean Sahmie, Bonnie Chapella Nampeyo, Nyla Sahmie, Foster Sahmie, Randy Sahmie, Finkle Sahmie; husband of Ida Sahmie; father of Andrew Sahmie, Jr. Many of his siblings are potters. Andrew has not been a prolific potter, but does occasionally produce a few pieces. Andrew has won awards for his Katsina carvings.
