Henry Fred signatureHernry Fred is a Hopi Indian of the Greasewood/Roadrunner Clans.  He was born in 1951 and has been an active carver of Katsina dolls since 1967.  He lives on the Hopi Reservation in the Third Mesa Village of Bacavi. He is a brother of other Hopi Katsina doll carvers, Jim Fred, Malcolm Fred, Verlan Fred, Nathan Fred and Glenn Fred.  He is mostly self-taught but had some guidance from family members.  He has been carving since the age of 16.
