PAIR Female and Male Miniature Storytellers

This pair of storyteller figurines was made by two different potters — Felicita Eustace made the male and Phyllis Nez the female. They make a charming family so we have chosen to feature them together. 

The Felicita Eustace male miniature storyteller is wearing a headband and holding a drum on his legs. One child is holding on to his arm and the other is peeking over his shoulder. Felicita often signs her work with black felttip. The signature does not show on the black pigment on the underside but there is no question that it is the work of Felicita Eustace.

The Phyllis Nez female miniature storyteller is grasping two small children in her arms, and two others are crawling up her back. Phyllis Nez is a Diné of the Navajo Nation and she lives in Albuquerque. She was mentored by Felicita Eustace in pottery techniques in the 1990s, and she continues to make storyteller figurines.

Condition: the Storytellers Pair is in original excellent condition.
