This elegant, tall black jar, a testament to the artistry of LuAnn Tafoya of Santa Clara Pueblo, exhibits a graceful form. While the piece is signed with the artist's name and pueblo, it lacks a date of creation. Its provenance, traced to a purchase in 2018, provides a reliable indication of its approximate age. LuAnn Tafoya (b. 1938), daughter of the renowned Margaret Tafoya, has masterfully burnished the jar to a rich, dark black finish. A striking Avanyu design gracefully encircles the vessel's mid-body, showcasing the artist's adherence to traditional iconography.
Condition: excellent
Provenance: this LuAnn Tafoya Large Jar with Avanyu Design is from a private collection
