This silver object was originally created to hold a box of matches. A more current function could be a business card holder. Two upright sides are connected by a ¾ inch silver segment on the bottom. Each side has a different design. One side is stamped with a whirling log motif, placing the creation date of this object prior to the 1930s. Once Adolf Hitler came to power, Native American artists stopped using this symbol because of the horrific association with the German dictator.  The other side is a series of crescent shaped stamps.

Condition: very good condition

Provenance: this Navajo Silver Match Box Holder with Whirling Logs is from a gentleman in Colorado
