A popular souvenir for non-jewelry buyers was a matchbook case. Any matchbook could be placed securely in this sterling silver case. This case is still functional, and can still hold a book of matches. It is adorned with the Knife Wing on the front cover and with a four-directional design on the back.

The Knife Wing was one of Fred Harvey’s most popular designs. Legend has this half-man, half-bird spirit possessing powers of strength and courage. This Knife Wing is carefully rendered to show his wings made of flint and his human dress.

Condition: very good condition
