Representing the Mimbres Period and what Joseph Lonewolf's (1932 - 2014) ancestors saw during their time, the male quail performs his dance of courtship in the hope he will be noticed by the female headed in his direction.  The floral scroll and feather designs encircling the two represent the gentleness of the female and the strength of the male—both guaranteeing the reproduction of new life.  The beauty of their courtship dance is represented by the butterflies.  The bleeding tears of the eagle plume represent sadness experienced by mankind during life.
